1. How do I enroll?
- All Independent Study courses and Scheduled Classes provide an online registration form so you can enroll at your convenience.
- You may also obtain a brochure by calling (888) 321-6658 or by e-mailing from the web page or by filling out our Information Request Form.
- During normal business hours you may also register by phone with a credit card at (888) 321-6658.
- In addition, you may register for scheduled classes at the first class meeting provided space is available.

2. How do I get a transcript?
One complimentary transcript is automatically sent within 2-4 weeks of completing a course. For additional copies, use our Online Transcript Request Form, or send your name, last 4 digits of your social security number, the address to which you want the transcript sent and $15 per copy to the address below. Transcripts are mailed within 48 hours of receipt of the request.

3. How can I get more information about a class?
- For additional information about scheduled courses, you can contact the coordinator at the phone number or e-mail address listed on the schedule for your local area.
- For additional information about Independent Study courses, phone (916) 939-2449.
- You may also fill out our Information Request Form to receive general information about courses or to get on the mailing list.
4. Can I get directions to my class?
We recommend using one of the many map programs available on the Internet, including MapBlast! and Yahoo! Maps. Simply key in the address (provided on the class page) and use the "zoom" features on the map to get the size of map you need. Otherwise please contact the corodinator for your area.

5. How do I get a refund for a class or program I had to drop?
For Scheduled (live) classes, withdrawal and transfer requests should be done online. A full refund will be credited to you if the class has not started. After a class has begun, each request will be handled on an individual basis. Refunds and/or transfer requests will not be processed for any reason after 30 days from the start of class.
For the 6-Unit summer program you must withdraw 3 business days prior to the class starting to get a refund.
For the summer curriculum class no refunds will be made after June 20.
For DoDDS, Scholastic Red courses, International Schools etc. When dropping a class a $25 fee will be charged up 30 days from registration date. After 30 days there will be no refunds.
For Independent Study classes, withdrawal and transfer requests must be in writing and received within 4 days of registration. A $25 per course processing fee will be charged for tuition refunds. Refunds and/or transfer requests will not be processed for any reason after this 4 day period.
For USD Online courses, withdrawal and transfer requests should be done by emailing Cyndi Thomas at cynthiat@sandiego.edu directly. Refund requests will be honored if the request is made before midnight on the fourth day of the class. A $25 per course processing fee will be charged for tuition refunds. Refunds and/or transfer requests will not be processed for any reason after this deadline.
Any related course materials (i.e. texts, dvds, CD-ROMS) purchased from USD that need to be returned must be returned in original condition within 14 days of receipt to receive a refund. Contact sandiego@usd-online.org for instructions on material returns.

8. I need more time to finish my independent study course. What do I do?
USD allows 9 months from the date of registration to complete an independent study formatted course and submit for evaluation. If you are needing additional time and would like to make an extension request, contact us at sandiego@usd-online.org or call (619) 260-4585 for a one-time limited extension. If an extension is granted, it is final.

9. Can I get a loan deferment when taking continuing education classes?
Please note that our policy has changed pertaining to loan deferment requests.
Only courses that belong to a degree program can be used toward loan deferment. Students will not be able to use non-degree courses to defer loan payments. (rev. 10/31/2011)
10. How many units can I complete in one semester?
USD Continuing Education allows for a maximum of 18 units to be completed during any one semester: FALL (September -December); SPRING (January - May); and SUMMER (June - August).
