Prepare Effective Curriculum for Success - EDU 798B 0612 80

3.0 Semester Units

Do you need to freshen up your lesson plans, revamp your learning environment, or align your curricula to the common core standards? Time spent planning and organizing your curriculum and classroom procedures will pay big dividends during the teaching year. This class will give you time, motivation and opportunity to turn your research and materials into successful curricula.

  • Planning data driven curriculum
  • Creating new curriculum for the coming year
  • Aligning curriculum to new district standards
  • Implementing  instructional strategies
  • Preparing or restructuring your classroom and materials for effective use

Teachers will prepare a significant addition to their existing classroom in curriculum area(s) of their choosing.  Detailed course instructions will be reviewed and distributed at a mandatory orientation meeting held in the spring.  Throughout the summer, participants will keep an extensive log of their research, planning and preparation.  To complete the course, teachers will attend a scheduled follow up interview with a university instructor who will examine evidence of work on an individual basis.

This class is also a good time to collaborate with your grade-level or subject matter teaching partners.  If you work closely with a teaching partner or are on a team of people who could use the time and professional growth units, this is a perfect opportunity!

Only four simple steps are required:
  • Register no later than June 20.
  • Attend one MANDATORY orientation session to receive and go over the coursework requirements.
  • Complete and document a minimum of 75 hours for the 3 Semester Unit Option, and 150 hours for the 6 Semester Unit Option by developing new classroom curricula or working on special projects.  *Note:  preparation for your current year or summer school assignment will not be accepted for this class, as the purpose of the class is to prepare for the 2012-2013 school year.
  • Attend an individually scheduled follow-up appointment to present and discuss evidence of  your accomplishments privately with an instructor. Your grade will be based on  the quality of your work.  Transcripts will be mailed after August 24.

LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS Wednesday, JUNE 20, 2012

Once you have registered (regardless of date ) changes to your number of units will NOT be allowed, so…....PLEASE MAKE SURE NUMBER OF UNITS IS CORRECT!
