Making Everyday Places into Extraordinary Spaces! The Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission’s Art in Public Places Program is nationally recognized for integrating art into the urban and suburban landscape and into the lives and daily activities of the people who live, work, and visit Sacramento.
Through this class the teacher will be introduced to dozens of major artworks in the 600 plus City and County public art collection. The artworks include sculptures, murals, site-specific installations, and memorials are by locally, nationally and internationally known artists. Students will also meet the Art in Public Places Education Coordinator who will illustrate how the artworks you see and learn about can be translated into classroom lessons.
DEADLINE to register is JUNE 20, 2012!
Note: A camera will be needed to record some sites visited!
