Brain Gym, Movement & Integrated Learning - EDU 500IU 0610 36
3.0 Semester Units
This new course widens and deepens the information offered in last year's Brain Gym course. Brain-based movement-oriented processes are emphasized along with child development principles and how movement serves for learning. The course will address: how the brain works, how the vestibular system/balance system affects learning and how to optimize learning using multi-modalities and movement in various educational settings.
Brain Gym, will serve as a basis for our exploration. Brain Gym is an innovative, brain-based process that uses movement to address learning - physical, emotional and cognitive. Brain Gym techniques are designed to enhance any educational programs currently in use in your classroom. Benefits include increased focus and attention, enhanced memory, improved organization, better behavior and reduced stress. Participants will learn/review Brain Gym techniques, how to determine learning profiles and then use the information for optimizing learning for themselves and their students.
Through demonstration, interactive activities and group work, participants will learn and expand their knowledge of some of the following processes: Brain Gym, Bal-A-Vis, School Moves and Education Through Music.
Participants will also experience ways to enhance their lives as they continue to give to others.
