Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Collaboration between ASCD and the University of San Diego (accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges) allows educators to participate in professional development activities sponsored by ASCD and to obtain graduate extension credit from USD. Credit hours are generally dependent on the intensity of each course; essentially 15 hours of contact work is equivalent to one unit of credit. Credits may be transferred to a degree program, but participants should first consult with the degree-granting organization for this permission. USD credits are most often used for teacher certification and/or salary enhancement purposes.

Dyslexia Training Instutite Graduate Credit for Dyslexia Training Institute Personal and Professional Development Courses Collaboration between the Dyslexia Training Institute(DTI) and the University of San Diego (accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges) allows students in DTI classes to register to receive graduate credit from the University of San Diego (USD). Credit hours per course are listed on the table below. Credits may be transferred to a degree program but participants should first consult with the degree-granting organization for this permission. Credits are generally used for educator’s certification requirements, salary enhancement purposes and/or transferred to a degree program. Professional Development Classes through PDI - The University of San Diego operates on the semester system and credit is awarded in semester units with each unit indicating approximately fifteen hours of classroom time. Most school districts accept EDU 500-599, 700-799 series courses as credit for Professional Development purposes. Prior district approval for salary advancement units is recommended and the responsibility of each student.
